doxo has recently released its U.S. Mobile Phone Market Size and Household Spending Report for 2022. According to the report, consumers are paying 10% more this year for mobile phone services compared to the previous year. The report is based on doxoINSIGHTS’ statistical analysis of actual household payments towards mobile phones across 97% of U.S. zip codes. It reveals that Americans spend a whopping $166 billion per year on mobile phone services.

The report also found that 94% of U.S. households with a mobile phone bill spend $113 per month or $1,356 per year. This amounts to an average of $1,275 per year when considering all U.S. households.

This year, inflation has hit historic highs, causing some of the largest mobile carriers in the world to increase their prices. Some carriers have even added new fees such as an “economic adjustment charge” or additional administrative charges to their services to try and combat inflation.

Compared to doxo’s 2021 analysis of the $149 billion Mobile Phone market, which found that consumers pay $103 per month or $1,159 per year, 94% of American households that have this bill have shown a 10% increase in how much they spend monthly.
