doxo’s Jeff Parmenter Helps Raise $4.9 million for Type 1 Diabetes Research

Corporate Press Release

doxo congratulates Jeff Parmenter, board president of the JDRF Seattle Guild, and the entire team of board members, volunteers, and guests for a successful fundraiser.

This year’s 25th Anniversary JDRF Seattle Guild Dream Gala, held March 8th at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, raised $4.9 million for T1D research.  Over 900 attendees enjoyed an evening of fine dining and prestigious local wines while musicians of the Seattle Symphony conducted by Stilian Kirov played with the evening’s headliner, Seattle singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile.

Corporate sponsors of the event included such names as CostcoWeyerhaeuserDeltaStarwood Hotels, and the Benaroya Company.

About the JDRF Seattle Guild:

When Michael Benaroya was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five, his parents Sherry and Larry Benaroya quickly realized that the fastest way to find a cure for their son, and the millions of others living with this disease, was to help raise funds for research. They called a small group of friends, and together in 1989 co-founded the JDRF Seattle Guild.

A year later, Guild membership had grown and the group hosted their first gala, a black-tie dinner and auction. This signature event, now called the Dream Gala, has grown to become the largest and most successful gala within JDRF and serves as a model for other galas throughout the country.  Collectively, the galas have raised nearly $1 billion nationally.

In addition to this signature event, the Guild inaugurated the Invitational Golf Tournament in 2008. Through these and other events throughout the year, dedicated Guild members have raised over $60 million to bring us closer to a cure for diabetes and its complications.  For more information about the JDRF Seattle Guild or the 2014 Invitational Golf Tournament, visit http://seattleguild.jdrf.org
